THE YATRA[PILGRIMAGE] TO HOLY KAILASH IS INDEED A JOURNEY OF A LIFETIME;MY YATRA IN 2005 IS A GREAT EXPERIENCE FROM THE SPIRITUAL,RELIGIOUS AND AESTHETIC ASPECTS AND ALSO FROM THE EXCELLENT COMPANY OF MY CO-YATRIS;THEY WERE VERY WARM,FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL AND MY GRATEFUL THANKS TO ALL OF THEM FOR MAKING MY YATRA MEMORABLE.
I WISH THE VISITORS TO THIS BLOG WILL ENJOY THE BEAUTY OF THE YATRA, AND HOPE THEY WILL BE INSPIRED TO GO ON THIS YATRA.

4th sep;BRIEFING BY ITBP PERSONNEL AT GUNJI CAMP

WE halted at Gunji on 3rd night and 4th. On the 4th morning the ITBP personnel gave a briefing on the precautions to be observed at high elevations , and the terrain ahead;we also underwent a medical test;and we rested for the day;evening we joined ITBP staff in bajans.

3RD.SEP.05 BUDHI TO GUNJI[11,500']20km.

We started from budhi at 5.30am. and reached Gunji by 3.pm, climbing 2000' in 20 km.;I walked the first ten kilometers and the balance I sat on pony;we passed through the beautiful valley of chialekh with a profusion of wild flowers.We had lunch at Garbyang, the sinking village;here we met the yatris of 13th batch on their way back.

2nd Sep.2005.Gala to Budhi[9000']

After prayers,we started walking from Gala at 5.am for Budhi;it is a trek of 20km along river kali;there were 400 steps going down on one sideand Kali was flowing with great force.the landscape was beautiful and we saw a number of waterfalls;actually the path goes behind a waterfall !the other side kali is Nepal;the coniferous forests of fir and deodar were beautiful.I trekked 16km on foot and got on to the pony for the rest;it was raining on and off and i got wet;i reached Budhi at 7.pm;i suddenly felt very chill as my socks got wet;doctorsab,a co-yatri rubbed my feet and gave me a cup of steaming hot tea;it was a tough journey,but the scenery was enchanting as can be seen from the photos posted here.

1st.SEP.05 KALI RIVER,HURTLING DOWN WITH GREAT FORCE

1st.Sept.2005-We started from Darchula by bus at 8AM and reached Mangti by 2PM.After lunch trekkedf 3km to reach Gala; it was a steep climb and a test of strength;but the scenery was beautiful with river Kali along-side the route;we halted for the night at Gala.[6600'] A view of river Kali on the Mangti-Gala trek.
